How To Get From The Airport To The City Centre
Taking "Dublin Bus" is the cheapest way to get to the city centre - more precisely you can take the line 16 and 41 and get off at O'Connell Street. A single journey is 3.30 € and you should pay the exact fare since the bus drivers do not give change. This bus takes a bit longer than the one with AirLink, but still free WiFi is provided on board.
Exploring Dublin
Trinity College
College Green, Dublin 2
Trinity College is nowadays a university that was originally planned as one college of a big university. It was built in 1592 and thus the buildings are quite old and extremely beautiful.
You can simply access the campus and it is for free.
However, if you want to take a look at the Books of Kells exhibition and the Old Library, you will have to pay an admission fee of 10€.
Since I have a friend who is a student at Trinity College, I could get in for free.
But I personally think that paying 10 € for seeing the library are way too much and definitely not worth it.

Temple Bar
Temple Bar is not one bar in particular, but a whole district with bars, cafés and restaurants.
You should stroll a bit through the Temple Bar District, since it is actually quite beautiful. However, they really try to rip off tourists there. So please do not buy a pint of beer that exceeds 5 € enormously - this is more or less the normal price for one.
If you wanna have your pint in a more local area, try the South William Street area.

Dublin Castle
Dame St, Dublin 2
Located in the city centre and not specially exposed on a hill, Dublin Castle is not what you expect from a castle in the first place. Still, it is a really lovely castle with a quite impressive history.
You can access the outer parts for free, however, if you want to go inside, you will have to pay some entrance fee. I haven't been inside, so I can't tell you whether it is worth it or not.
But I can definitely tell you that the park opposite of the castle is an amazing spot for having a picknick or fish and chips.

The Cheaster Beatty Library
Dublin Castle, Dublin 2
The Cheaster Beatty Library is rather a musem or collection than a library. The admission is free and it is a really nice place to relax. Also, their rooftop garden is really lovely.
It is located right next to Dublin Castle.

Powerscourt Centre
59 South William Street, Dublin 2
Powerscourt Centre is actually a shopping centre, but it is really modern and looks really fancy. Inside there are really cool shops and all the cafés look soo lovely.
Food and Restaurants
Gourmet Burger Kitchen
Unit 1, Temple Bar Square
I am really picky when it comes to food and especially burgers, but even if the Gourmet Burger Kitchen is a chain, I still can recommend their burgers - at least in this particular restaurant.
And their rosemary chips are even better!

Square Ball
45 Hogan Pl, Dublin 2
Square Ball is a pub that just opened quite recently. It looks like a typical Irish pub in the front part whereas the back is a cosy place to play board games and watch Celtic Football.
They fortunately do not have Monopoly, so it really is a place you can go with your friends and have tons of fun.

Queen of Tarts
Cows Lane, Temple Bar
At Queen of Tarts a broad variety of coffe specialities, tea, cakes and cupcakes is offered. I actually had my first scone ever there and it was amazing. You can even choose to have different kind of fruits in the dough of your scone.
Proper Irish dish at a pub
You should definitely try something proper Irish. Mostly it is some sort of meat ( their ham is sooo tasty) and potatoes. Sometimes even another potato dish is added - there is nothing better than carbs with carbs I guess.
Irish Breakfast
Places to visit around Dublin
Wicklow Mountains
The Wicklow Mountains National Park is simply stunning and is definitely worth a visit. Since I personally participated in a project during which I stayed there for a week and thus was provided with transport, I cannot recommend you any transportation. However, there are offered a lot of tours. Even if these might be quite touristic, you should still consider taking one of them.
